During the emerging COVID-19 crisis, Reparametrize faced the challenges by presenting a unique online experience interconnecting its network of faculty, industry collaborators, and laboratories in an online educational summer course. The Course focused on Re-thinking the aims, method-ologies and results of temporary architecture practices in affected environments. In addition to optimizing students’ knowledge about reusing materials as essential means for current views of post-war reconstruction. The research scoped local materials in Syria and material innovations and development trends, from advanced High-Tech to Low-Tech basic approaches. An essential part of the course was the design inspired by the vision of children who gave students ideas through their beautiful colors and sketches which expressed their needs of space for playing and communica-tion, where the students focused on the children’s situation looking at the impacts of destruction to identify risk constellations that predict child internalizing and externalizing behaviour problems, the impacts of lack of education, etc. Students explored the causes that led to the existing situation. The social situation as well as physiological impact on children were relevant parameters during this analysing process. Based on the gained knowledge, students developed ideas of interventions contributing to re-think, re-imagine and re-create, as well as interacting with the specific envi-ronment. Students then generated new visions and applications for the future of the affected and destroyed cities.

In this Course Reparametrize Studio focused on Re-thinking the aims, and methodologies of tem-porary architecture practices in affected environments, aiming to find a connection between war effects, behavior of children, remaining resources and temporary projects. In order to form a Pilot Project as a 1:1 Prototype through developing students’ knowledge about reusing recycled mate-rials as essential means for the change in the affected areas, they developed samples of recycled materials produced from War Waste (Rubble).
